ABOUT US

          The Connemara dance group was founded in February 2003. However, the very first dance lessons have been carried out since 2001 in K-Dance school in Banská Bystrica. We deal with teaching and performing and our repertoire consists of both traditional and modern irish dancing including our own soft shoe and hard shoe choreographies. Together with some of our beginners we regularly take part in workshops in Slovakia and Czech Republic with well-known foreign teachers such as Lisa Delaney, TCRG; Mary Sweeney, TCRG; Anne-Marie Cunningham,TCRG; Michal Kövér, M.R.G.;Tereza Bernardová. We have also attended Summer school of Irish Dancing in Prague for few times, improving our dance skills led by highly-qualified teachers: Anne-Marie Cunningham, TCRG; Sean Kilkenny, TCRG; Kelley O´Boyle, TCRG; Lisa Delaney-Galal, TCRG, ADCRG; Corinne Delaney; Stephen Scariff; Tereza Bachová and Tereza Bernardová.


          Since November 2003 we have taken part in "Pardubická Ryengle", an international Irish dance competition in Czech Republic. For the first time we were placed 7th and 11th. In 2004, we tried it again and left with two 5th places, and finally, in 2005, were placed 3rd in "soft shoe - invention" category with a choreofraphy called Jig by jig. (photo)







          Recently, a few younger members have joined the group and started to deal with our high expectations very successfuly. Nowadays, the group has 16 active members.
